This is an exceptional champagne from Palmer & Co.
We were lucky enough to try this at the Taste of Champagne event hosted by Tyson Stelzer.
It was one of our favourite champagnes on the day.
Vibrant yellow with aromas of preserved citrus and candied notes, with a bouquet of elderflowers.
On the palate it is a crescendo of apple compote, honey, wax, then dried fruits (dried currants, date) evolving on “oriental” and spicy notes (tea, clove, thyme).
The combination of French Pastry and mille feuille characters is profound and is indeed shining.
A dense and powerful wine, full in the mouth offering a long finish of grilled nuts.
The great intensity of the 2002 is evident, so much length and structure a magnificent Champagne indeed.
The fourth ever made WINE of the DECADE ranking was dedicated to champagnes from 2000 to 2009.
The ranking was made by the professional team from the world’s one and only champagne magazine – FINE Champagne Magazine – and the world’s largest wine information platform – Tastingbook.com. The team assessed over 1000 champagnes in various tastings during 2015-2016. From these results the 100 best made it to the final, which was held in Reims, France.
All the tastings were conducted as blind tastings.
This champagne was ranked in the top 50!
This Magnum 2002 is extremely limited but we have some available!
