GOLD - AWC Vienna International Wine Challenge 2011 (93.4 points)
"Vibrant colour; fresh and focused cassis with a touch of mint bouquet; good texture and weight, with ample fine-grained tannin to match the abundant fruit." 93/100, James Halliday
The Bos is the second tier of Reschke benchmark Coonawarra Cabernets. This old-world style wine is the result of carefully selected fruit parcels from our low yielding vineyards. The complexity and character of the Bos is enhanced and developed through maturation in new French oak. Blackcurrant, cassis, spicy oak and fine-grained soft tannins amalgamate to make this a quintessential Coonawarra classic with elegance and structure.
This is a great example of Coonawarra Cabernet. Its enormous depth of ripe fruit flavours is well supported and complimented by plenty of spicy oak characters. It is drinking exceptionally well now due to the fruit sweetness but given time in a cool cellar it will gather even more richness. 2004 was a fantastic vintage yielding wines with nice ripe fruit flavours and soft mellow tannins. This wine will show increasing levels of cedar and cigarbox characters and may throw a crust due to its high levels of colour and extract Peter Douglas.
