Is sourced from 100% bush vine Shiraz that was planted in 1899 in the sub-district of Marananga in western Barossa. It was aged for 17 months in new and seasoned French and American oak. Opaque purple-coloured, it offers complex notes of pain grille, pencil lead, tar, blueberry, and blackberry. Full-bodied, layered, and opulent, all components are well-integrated with a finish that is very long and intense.
"The equally deep colour has a better hue than Old Bastard;produced from estate vinyards planted in 1899 and 1965; aromas of licorice, boot polish and black fruits are followed by a distinctly savoury, spicy palate, oak and tannins playing a support role. Rating 94 Drink to 2022 James Halliday AWC 2010"

2006 "Old Vine" Shiraz: "Was sourced from 44-year-old estate vineyards and aged of game, bacon, sausage, and blueberry pie. This leads to a full-bodied opulent Shiraz with layers of spicy blue fruits, pepper, licorice, and enough ripe tannin to evolve for several years. Drink this plush effort from 2012-2024." 93 POINTS
